AFTERCARE:
Post-treatment care and aftercare are important for promoting healing and minimizing the risk of complications following laser tattoo removal. Here are some general guidelines for post-treatment care and aftercare:
- Apply ice or a cold compress to the treated area for 10 – 15 minutes at a time, several times a day for the first few days following treatment to reduce swelling and discomfort.
- Keep the treated area clean and dry. Avoid soaking in water, hot tubs, saunas or pools for at least 2 weeks following treatment.
- Apply a healing ointment or a cream to the treated area as directed by your provider to promote healing and minimize the risk of infection.
- Avoid exposing the treated area to direct sunlight or tanning beds for at least 4 weeks following treatment. If you must go outside, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF to protect the treated area.
- Avoid picking or scratching at the treated area. This can increase the risk of scarring or infection.
- Avoid strenuous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating for at least 48 hours following treatment.
- Be patient. It may take several weeks or months for the treated area to fully heal, and multiple treatment sessions may be necessary to achieve the desired results.
- Follow up with your provider as directed to monitor your progress and ensure that you are healing property.
